In Greek mythology, the Amazons appear in such ancient epic poems and legends, as the Labors of Hercules, the Argonautica, and the Iliad. They were of female warriors and hunters, who rivaled men in physical agility and strength, in archery, riding skills, and the arts of combat.
In this half-portrait, I wanted to convey their strength through concentrating on the wide-open commanding and determined eye and the strongly set lips.
